About Pylon Signs
A pylon is read by someone doing sixty, deciding whether to indicate. Everything about how it is built follows from that.
Distance sets the letter height, and letter height sets the panel size -- not the other way round. A tenant name that has to be read from a hundred metres needs roughly 300mm of letter, and once you have stacked six tenants at that height you know how tall the tower is. Clients usually arrive with a height in mind and a tenant list that will not fit in it; working from the reading distance backwards is what stops a pylon nobody can actually read.
We fabricate the tower in steel or aluminium, powder-coated, with either printed panels or individual illuminated tenant slots. Multi-tenant towers are built so a single slot can be pulled and replaced when a tenant changes -- an office park that has to remake the whole face every time a lease turns over has bought the wrong sign.
Foundations are part of the job, not an afterthought. A pylon is a sail; the concrete base and the steel below ground are sized for the wind load, and we allow curing time before the tower goes up.
Site survey first, always. We look at the sight lines, the approach speed and where the power will come from, then quote.
