About Light Boxes
A light box is not the same product as illuminated lettering, and choosing between them is worth two minutes.
Lettering is a shape, cut and lit individually. A light box is a shallow aluminium frame with a printed translucent face lit evenly from behind. It suits anything that is a picture rather than a word -- a menu, a full-colour logo, a pharmacy cross, a promotional image -- and it is the cheaper of the two per square foot.
Its real advantage is the face. The graphic is a skin held in a snap frame or tensioned into the box, so it can be changed without touching the box, the wiring or the wall. A restaurant that reprints a menu face twice a year pays for a sheet of translucent print each time and nothing else. That is the case for a light box over a rigid painted panel, and it is usually the deciding one.
